We're in the process of building a new control room, for our studio. As you can see from the photos, the equipment is in place, and is now connected, but we will also need to do some acoustic re-modelling.

Methedreame started out recording on a Yamaha MT38 4-track studio. Matthew has now built the studio up to quite a professional level. It's, basically, good enough to produce CD ready masters. For those of you who are interested, this page lists the current set of basic components. The "brains" of the studio is E-Magic's Logic Audio Platinum v5.5.1 running on an AMD Athlon 2200XP based PC with Windows XP Pro. There are two STAudio DSP2000 soundcards with two ADC & DAC 2000 breakout boxes. The main MIDI interfaces are via the DSP2000's. Everything connects into three Behringer Ultrapatch Pro's. The mixing desk is a Behringer Eurodesk MX3282A 32-Channel desk. For monitoring, there are a pair of Spirit Absolute 2's by Soundcraft, a pair of JPW Gold nearfield monitors and a crappy pair of Akai's that someone was throwing away (it's good to listen to a mix on different sets of speakers)!
The main amp is a Behringer A500. Then there's the rack of outboard equipment consisting of: A Zoom Studio 1204, two Behringer Virtualizer's, an ART Multiverb Alpha 2 Studio Edition and an ART SGE Mach II - all multi-effects processors. A DBX Project 1 Compressor/Limiter 262 and a Samson S-Com 4, 4 Channel Compressor Gate, providing a total of six compression channels. A Behringer Denoiser, Focusrite Platinum Mix Master and a Behringer Ultra-Graph Pro sit on the mastering stage. The main mix is recorded to either a Sony A6 DAT, a Philips CDR 870, or back into the DSP2000's depending on what the mix is for. These units connect to each other via digital optical cables for copying, as well as having digital coax connecting back into the DSP2000's. There is also an Alesis DM5 drum module, with a load of Roland PD-7 and PD-9 drum pads connected, a Boss DR-550 drum machine, a Roland MS-1 digital sampler and a Roland JV-50 keyboard providing the main MIDI sound sources. The JV-50 and Roland pads are used for the MIDI programming. We use a Rode NT2 microphone for recording vocals and a Rode NT3 mic for most of the instruments, as these have an excellent frequency range and response. We also use the ubiquitous Shure SM57 and Beyerdynamic M700.
